I can still remember How that music used to make me smile And I knew, if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, they'd be happy for a whileJe tomu už dávno, dávno... Nikdy nezapomenu Jak mi hudba přinášela radost A věděl jsem, že kdybych dostal příležitost Mohl bych lidi roztancovat A možná, by byli na chvíli šťastní With every paper, I'd deliver Bad news on the doorstep I couldn't take one more stepAle únor mě rozechvěl S každým plátkem novin, který jsem roznesl Špatné zprávy na prahu A já nemohl udělat ani o krok víc When I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside The day the music diedNepamatuji se, jestli jsem brečel Když jsem četl o jeho ovdovělé nevěstě Ale něco hluboko uvnitř se mě dotklo Dne, kdy zemřela hudba Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singin': "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die"Tak sbohem, slečno American Pie Vezla jsi můj Chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou Zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" And do you have faith in God above? If the Bible tells you so? Do you believe in rock'n roll? Can music save your mortal soul? And can you teach me, how to dance real slow?Napsal jsi snad knihu lásky? A věříš v Boha nad námi? Když ti to Bible nařídila? Věříš v rock'n roll? Může hudba zachránit tvou smrtelnou duši? A můžeš mě naučit, jak pomalu tančit? `Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym You both kicked off your shoes Man, I dig those rhythm and bluesNo, vím, že jsi do něj zamilovaná Protože jsem vás viděl tančit v tělocvičně Oba jste odkopli své boty Člověče, já miluju rhythm and blues With a pink carnation and a pickup truck But I knew I was out of luck The day the music diedByl jsem osamělý, puberťácký frajer S růžovým karafiátem a dodávkou Ale věděl jsem, že mě potkala smůla Dne, kdy zemřela hudba "Bye-bye, miss American Pie" Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye And singin': "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die"Začal jsem zpívat "Sbohem, slečno American Pie" Vezla jsi můj chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou A zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone But that's not how it used to be When the jester sang for the king and queen In a coat he borrowed from James Dean And a voice that came from you and mePosledních deset let jsme žili na volné noze A mech roste na valícím se kameni Ale vždycky tomu tak nebylo Když šašek zpíval pro krále a královnu V kabátu zapůjčeného od Jamese Deana A s hlasem, který pochází od tebe a mne The jester stole his thorny crown The courtroom was adjourned No verdict was returned And while Lennon read a book of Marx The quartet practiced in the park And we sang dirges in the dark The day the music diedAch, a zatímco král shlížel ze shora Šašek ukradl jeho trnitou korunu Soud byl odročen A žádný rozsudek nebyl vynesen A zatímco Lennon četl Marxe Kvarteto cvičilo v parku A my jsme zpívali balady v noci Dne, kdy zemřela hudba "Bye-bye, miss American Pie" Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye And singin': "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die"Začali jsme zpívat "Sbohem, slečno American Pie" Vezla jsi můj Chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou A zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" The birds flew off with a fallout shelter Eight miles high and falling fast It landed foul on the grass The players tried for a forward pass With the jester on the sidelines in a castMleli páté přes deváté v letním pařáku Ptáci vyletěli z protiatomových krytů Osm mil vysoko a rychle padali A ošklivě dopadli na trávu Hráči si nacvičovali přihrávky A šašek stál na boku se sádrou While the sergeants played a marching tune We all got up to dance Oh, but we never got the chance! `Cause the players tried to take the field The marching band refused to yield Do you recall, what was revealed The day the music died?V poločase byla v ovzduší cítit sladká vůně Zatímco četa spustila marš Všichni jsme začali tancovat Ach, ale nikdy jsme nedostali šanci! Protože se hráči pokusili ovládnout pole Pochodující skupina se odmítla vzdát Vzpomenete si, co bylo odhaleno Dne, kdy zemřela hudba? "Bye-bye, miss American Pie" Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye And singin': "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die"Začali jsme zpívat "Sbohem, slečno American Pie" Vezla jsi můj Chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou A zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" A generation lost in space With no time left to start again So come on: Jack be nimble, Jack be quick Jack Flash sat on a candlestick ´Cause fire is the devil's only friendAch, byli jsme všichni na jednom místě Generace ztracená ve vesmíru Která nemá čas začít znovu Tak jdeme na to: Jacku, buď hbitý, Jacku, buď rychlý Jack Flash seděl na svícnu Protože oheň je jediný ďáblův přítel My hands were clenched in fists of rage No angel born in hell Could break that Satan's spell And as the flames climbed high into the night To light the sacrificial rite I saw Satan laughing with delight The day the music diedAch, a jak jsem ho sledoval na jevišti Mé ruce byly hněvem sevřeny v pěst Žádný anděl narozený v pekle Nemůže zlomit kouzlo Satanovo A jako plameny šplhající vysoko do noci Aby osvětlily obětní rituál Já viděl Satana, on smál se potěšeně Dne, kdy zemřela hudba "Bye-bye, miss American Pie" Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye And singin': "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die"On zpíval "Sbohem, slečno American Pie" Vezla jsi můj chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou A zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" And I asked her for some happy news But she just smiled and turned away I went down to the sacred store Where, I'd heard the music years before But the man there said, the music wouldn't playPotkal jsem jednu dívku, která zpívala blues A poprosil ji o nějaké dobré zprávy Ale ona se jen zasmála a otočila se ke mě zády Zašel jsem dolů do posvátného obchodu Kde jsem, kdysi slýchával hudbu Ale pán mi tam řekl, že hudba se zde už nehraje The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed But not a word was spoken The church bells all were broken And the three men, I admire most The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost They caught the last train for the coast The day the music diedA na ulici křičely děti Milenci plakali a básníci snili Ale nepadlo ani slovo Kostelní zvony byly rozbité A trojice lidí, již nejvíce obdivuji Otec, Syn a Duch Svatý Nasedli na poslední vlak k pobřeží Dne, kdy zemřela hudba "Bye-bye, miss American Pie" Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singin': "This'll be the day that I die" "This'll be the day that I die"A oni zpívali "Sbohem, slečno American Pie" Vezla jsi můj chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou Zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" "Bye-bye, miss American Pie" Drove my chevy to the levee But the levee was dry Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singin': "This'll be the day that I die"Oni zpívali "Sbohem, slečno American Pie" Vezla jsi můj Chevrolet na hráz Ale ta byla vyschlá A dobří staří chlapci pili whiskey a žitnou Zpívajíce: "Tohle bude den, kdy zemřu" |

Don McLean - Vincent
Starry starry night
paint your palette blue and grey look out on a summer's day with eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills sketch the trees and the daffodils catch the breeze and the winter chills in colors on the snowy linen land. Now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they'll listen now. Starry starry night flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue. Colors changing hue morning fields of amber grain weathered faces lined in pain are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand. Now I understand what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they did not know how perhaps they'll listen now. For they could not love you but still your love was true and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry night. You took your life as lovers often do But I could have told you Vincent this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you. Starry starry night portraits hung in empty halls frameless heads on nameless walls with eyes that watch the world and can't forget. Like the stranger that you've met the ragged men in ragged clothes the silver thorn of bloody rose lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow. And now I think I know what you tried to say to me how you suffered for your sanity and how you tried to set them free. They would not listen they're not list'ning still perhaps they never will. |
Noc plná hvězd
barví tvou paletu modrou a šedou pozorujíc letní den očima, které znají temno v mé duši Stíny na kopcích skici stromů a narcisů zachycují vánek i zimní chlad v barvách lnem zasněžené země Teď už chápu co ses pokoušel mi říct jak jsi trpěl pro zachování svého zdraví jak ses snažil zůstat svůj Oni nemohli slyšet ani nevěděli jak by třeba se zaposlouchají teď Noc plná hvězd planoucí květy jež jasně září vířící oblaka ve fialovém oparu se odrážejí ve Vincentových očích barvy čínské modři Barvy mění odstín ranní pole jako jantarová zrna ošlehané tváře vrásčité bolestí jsou konejšeny milující rukou umělce Teď už chápu co ses pokoušel mi říct jak jsi trpěl pro zachování svého zdraví jak ses snažil zůstat svůj Oni nemohli slyšet ani nevěděli jak by třeba se zaposlouchají teď Přes ty, co tě mají v nelásce i tak zůstává tvá láska pravá a když už se v očích nezračila žádná naděje na té hvězdné obloze (tvých očí) vzal sis svůj život jak to i zamilovaní často dělají Ale chtěl jsem ti říci Vincente tenhle svět nebyl nikdy stvořený pro někoho tak obdivuhodného jako jsi ty Noc plná hvězd portréty visí v prázdných halách nezarámované hlavy na bezejmenných zdech s očima co sledují svět a nemohou zapomenout Jako cizinec kterého jsi potkal otrhaný muž v potrhaných šatech stříbrný trn krvavé růže leží rozdrcen a zlámán na panenském sněhu A teď, myslím, vím co jsi se mi snažil říci jak jsi trpěl pro zachování svého zdraví jak ses snažil zůstat svůj Oni to nemohli slyšet stále ještě neposlouchají a nejspíš ani nikdy nebudou. |
